1-Classification by Engine Stroke (Core Classification)
Divided into 2-stroke motorcycle oil and 4-stroke motorcycle oil. The two have distinct formulations and applications and must not be mixed.
2-Stroke Motorcycle Oil
Suitable for 2-stroke engines, mostly used in pre-mix or oil-injected lubrication systems. It requires excellent combustibility (reduced carbon deposits), high lubricity and low smoke emission. Common grades include JASO FB/FC/FD. Widely used in small-displacement 2-stroke models such as scooters and off-road motorcycles. Models adapted for methanol-blended fuels require additional enhanced resistance to methanol dilution and corrosion.
4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil
The mainstream category, suitable for most household, commercial and high-end motorcycles. It must provide both engine lubrication and gearbox gear protection. Classified by quality grade into API SJ/SL/SN, etc., and by base oil type into mineral, semi-synthetic and fully synthetic. Suitable for various models from 125CC scooters to 500CC+ large-displacement sport bikes, ADV and other high-performance models. Methanol-specific versions are specially formulated to solve insufficient lubrication and component corrosion caused by methanol fuel.
Classification by Base Oil Type
Mineral Motorcycle Oil
Cost-effective, suitable for low-speed, light-load, small-displacement motorcycles (e.g., daily commuter 125CC scooters). Basic lubricating performance meets general needs, with relatively short oil change intervals.
Semi-Synthetic Motorcycle Oil
Balances performance and cost, suitable for medium-speed, medium-load vehicles for daily commuting and short-distance touring. Lubricity and oxidation resistance are superior to mineral oil, with moderate oil change intervals.
Fully Synthetic Motorcycle Oil
High-end product formulated with PAO or ester base oils and dedicated additives. It features excellent high-temperature stability, extreme pressure anti-wear performance and long service life. Suitable for high-RPM, large-displacement, heavy-duty motorcycles (e.g., sport bikes, long-distance ADV) and methanol-fueled models. Offers longer oil change intervals and better performance under complex working conditions.
Motorcycle Special Lubricant Technical Parameter Table (For Export)
This table covers 4-stroke, 2-stroke motorcycle engine oil and special gear oil, with dual Chinese-English annotations. All parameters comply with international standards such as API, JASO, and relevant national standards, suitable for export sales, product display and overseas customer consultation.
4-Stroke Motorcycle Engine Oil (Mainstream)
Applicable to street bikes, sports bikes, scooters and cruisers, meeting the needs of engine lubrication and wet clutch operation. JASO MA/MA2 certification is the core to prevent clutch slippage.
| Viscosity Grade | Core Certification | Key Technical Indicators (Typical Value) | Applicable Temperature | Applicable Models/Scenarios | Export Remarks |
| 5W-30 | API SP, JASO MA2 | 100℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 9.3mm²/s; Pour Point ≤-35℃; Flash Point ≥220℃ | -30℃~+35℃ | Small-displacement (50-250cc) scooters/street bikes, daily commuting in cold areas | Suitable for high-latitude markets |
| 10W-40 | API SP, JASO MA2 | 100℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 14.2mm²/s; Pour Point ≤-25℃; Flash Point ≥230℃ | -25℃~+45℃ | Global universal, 250-600cc models, all comprehensive working conditions | Best-selling for global export |
| 20W-50 | API SP, JASO MA | 100℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 18.8mm²/s; Pour Point ≤-15℃; Flash Point ≥240℃ | -15℃~+55℃ | Large-displacement (≥800cc) models, high-temperature heavy load, long-distance travel | Suitable for low-latitude high-temperature markets |
2-Stroke Motorcycle Engine Oil (Special)
It participates in combustion, requiring low smoke, no carbon deposition and strong lubricity. It is strictly prohibited to replace with 4-stroke engine oil. JASO FD is the highest grade certification.
| Product Grade | Core Certification | Key Technical Indicators (Typical Value) | Applicable Models/Scenarios | Export Remarks |
| JASO FB | JASO FB, GB 2433-2001 | 40℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 60mm²/s; Flash Point ≥180℃; Carbon Residue ≤0.5% | Old 2-stroke models (50-80cc), low-speed and light-load operation | Suitable for vintage bike markets |
| JASO FD | JASO FD, GB 2433-2001 | 40℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 50mm²/s; Flash Point ≥200℃; Carbon Residue ≤0.2% | 2-stroke off-road/sports bikes (≥125cc), separate lubrication system | High demand in off-road vehicle markets |
Motorcycle Special Gear Oil
Applicable to gearboxes and differentials, requiring wear resistance, impact resistance and pitting resistance. It is strictly prohibited to replace with automobile gear oil for a long time.
| Viscosity Grade | Core Certification | Key Technical Indicators (Typical Value) | Applicable Models/Scenarios | Export Remarks |
| 80W-90 | API GL-4, GB 13895-2018 | 100℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 18mm²/s; Pour Point ≤-30℃; Wear Scar Diameter ≤0.4mm | Scooters (50-250cc), small-displacement (150-400cc) gearboxes | Universal for small-displacement models |
| 85W-140 | API GL-5, GB 13895-2018 | 100℃ Kinematic Viscosity: 40mm²/s; Pour Point ≤-25℃; Wear Scar Diameter ≤0.35mm | Large-displacement (≥400cc) gearboxes/differentials | High wear resistance for heavy-duty models |
Core Selection & Usage Notes (Including Import and Export Compliance)
Certification Priority: 4-stroke motorcycle oil should preferably have JASO MA/MA2 certification. MA2 has better anti-slip performance than MA, suitable for most wet clutch models.
Viscosity Selection: Choose low W value (e.g., 5W) for low-temperature areas, and high suffix viscosity (e.g., 50) for high-temperature/large-displacement/heavy-load conditions. Follow the vehicle manual first.
Replacement Cycle: Mineral oil: 1500-2000km; Semi-synthetic oil: 3000-5000km; Full synthetic oil: 5000-8000km. Shorten by 50% for track/heavy-load conditions.
Prohibition of Mixing: Do not mix oils of different brands, types (mineral/semi-synthetic/full synthetic) or 2-stroke/4-stroke. Drain old oil completely when replacing.
2-Stroke Oil: For mixed lubrication, mix fuel and oil at a ratio of 25:1~50:1; for separate lubrication, fill directly to the specified level without manual mixing.
Customs Code & Compliance: HS Code (reference): 27101991 (Motorcycle lubricating oil). Comply with the import and export regulations of the destination country, and provide relevant certification documents as required.
Environmental Certification Tips: It is recommended to pass environmental certifications such as EU ECOLABEL and US EPA to enhance market competitiveness in overseas markets.
Packaging & Shipping Notes: Use sealed anti-leakage packaging, mark product specifications and danger signs in accordance with international shipping standards, and avoid damage during transportation.
